1. How do I check my email or surf the web at the Sarcoxie Public Library?

Come in and sign the waiting list after reading the rules against illegal on-line activity. The maximum time at any average sitting at the computer is 60 minutes. Preference given to patrons doing research over game players. The librarian will answer your questions about surfing. If you do not have an email account, the librarian will show you how to set up a free account on-line through one of the servers like http://yahoo.com .

2. How may I renew a book?

Choose your favorite method:

A. Bring the name of the book or materials themselves to renew at the library.

B. Call the librarian at (417) 548-2736 or fax at (417) 548-3104 with the above information.

C. Email the request to Sarcoxie Library

3. What are the late fees?               

5 cents a day or 35 cents a week per item.

4. What is the cost of copies and the cost of printing from the computer?

15 cents per sheet, either copying or printing or scanning. Copier can reduce or enlarge.

5. What is the cost to send and receive faxes?

$2.00 for the first 3 pages and $.50 for each additonal page sent.

$2.00 for the first 10 pages and $.25 for each additonal page received.

6. Is there a charge to make a scan and save it to diskette?

There is no charge for an Hp Scan or to save it to your diskette or zip drive. 
Diskettes are available for $1.00 each.

7. What special programs are available at the library computer terminals?

Microsoft Word; Microsoft PowerPoint; Microsoft Excell; Microsoft Publisher; Frontpage; XP Office, .

8. How are questions answered?

Questions can be answered either through our reference books, inter-library loan, or the internet.  Jeannine Wormington, Library Director, helps patrons find  information online or through her extensive knowledge of the library holdings.

9. What help is available to genealogists?

A specialty service is assistance with genealogy searches through local and on-line sources.  The library is a member of several related sites and Jeannine Wormington is happy to take patron's data and enlarge upon it through http://ancestory.com . Rare books and newspaper articles are available for study at the reference area.

10. How do I donate my time, books, or money to the Sarcoxie Library?

Friends of the Sarcoxie Library would be happy to see the library receive donations of books and cash.  If you would like to be a volunteer intern or help write grant proposals, that could be possible as well.  Please contact Jeannine Wormington, Library Director.  Receipts for IRS purposes for donations of time, books, or money are available upon request.
